In all Circumstances?
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 It’s not always easy to give thanks in all circumstances. God is not asking us to be happy and smiling all the time. Sometimes we grieve the loss of a loved one. Other times we are upset about things. But in all these circumstances we are asked to give…

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
This verse brings comfort and hope to us. For every believer in Jesus, who loves and follows Him, God is working to make all things work for our good.
You may be in a mess, today, but God can turn it into a message. Every trial you have been put through can turn into a testimony for the glory of God. Take heart and wait patiently for the Lord. Your trials will make you stronger and bolder. You can never be defeated when God is on your side. You are an overcomer!

“All things work together for good…”
“All things work together for good to them that love God.” - Romans 8:28.
It’s a source of comfort and hope to countless people. It’s one of the most quoted, most loved, verses in the Bible. And it’s also one of the most misunderstood.
Because it’s not about wish fulfillment. It’s not about making poor choices, or sabotaging yourself, and then imagining that somehow it will all turn out great.
It’s not the magic missing piece from the world’s worst business plan.
(Phase One: do the thing. Phase Two: ???? Phase Three: profit!!!)
It’s not about pretending that if you’re a good person only good things will happen to you. Bad stuff is going to happen to you and me – that’s life in the fallen world we live in.
If that’s not it, then what is it about?
First, there’s more to it - “All things work together for good to them that love God, who are called according to His purpose.”
And it means that there is a calling from God, an invitation. As St. John Chrysostom tells us, “The calling was not forced on anyone, nor was it compulsory. Everyone was called, but not everyone responded to the call.”
It means that when you and I respond to God’s call, when we turn towards God? When we have a relationship with God, when we try to follow God’s lead?
God will go to work in our lives, to help us become who He made us to be. Because that’s the “good” that St. Paul is talking about, the good that God made us for.
God will use every part of our lives, the good stuff and the bad stuff. The times we did our best and the times we didn’t. The stuff we brought on ourselves and the stuff that just happened to us.
Sometimes those things hit us hard. And when it does, it can feel like the way it hurts will never end.
The key to all of this, to having God use it for our good – no matter what it is – is to do it with God.
To get over ourselves. To get over having to do it all by ourselves. To invite God into the very heart of what we’re dealing with.
To ask God to do it with us. To ask God to use it for our good.
Even if we don’t see how any good could ever come out of it.
God will use every part of our lives for good – the good of becoming who He made us to be – if we’ll let Him.

~John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
~Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither life not death, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to seperate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
~Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Romans 8:28 (ESV). “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
“✨ A Sign”
“This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." —Luke 2:12, (NASB)
“Steve Brown tells a story about the ugliest car he had ever seen. It had a large gash down one side; one of the doors was barely hanging on with bailing wire; large patches of metal were rusted out. The muffler was dangling down to street level. The car had been painted over so many times with so many colors it was impossible to tell the original color. But the most fascinating thing about the car was the bumper sticker. It read “This is not an abandoned car.”
We live in a rusty world. It can be ugly and depressing. Hurt and heartache abound. A new shot of paint here and there can make things looks brighter temporarily, but the daily Niagara of bad news jolts us back to reality. On top of that, our own personal sorrows and sin can sometimes leave us feeling guilty, isolated, and fearful. At times we can wonder if God really cares. But a long time ago, a baby was born and laid in a manger. He was born for us. He was a sign to us. His sign read “This is not an abandoned world.”
When God visited our planet in human flesh, He gave us the assurance that He had not abandoned us or our world. What the angel said to the shepherds is the same thing God is saying to us today—a Savior has come. Even though we’re often shocked and saddened by events in our world or our own lives, we can know that He has not abandoned us.
God cares, and God is in control. You have not been deserted or forsaken. The best news is that someday Jesus will come again, and all the ugliness of sin will be removed forever. He will make all things new. His coming again will be His final sign to us that “This is not an abandoned world.”
